Role of Curriculum

We believe the curriculum provides a path for learning to take place.  In relationship with documentation, it becomes a guide for focusing on the interests that emerge from the children.  This allows teachers to celebrate individuals and to provide a stimulating curriculum for all.  Curriculum communicates to families about their child's interests as they evolve and reflect the classroom community.  We implement an emergent curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach to guide our experiences with the children. Through observations and documentation teachers capture the interests and curiosity of the children and plan relevant activities.

We recognize the importance for children to learn to make good choices for themselves.  Therefore, their days are structured for them to select from a variety of activities. These are available to preschool and school age children on a daily basis.  Infants and toddlers have a variety of these choices everyday as well.
